There are a number of ways to do it: choose eco-tourism destinations when traveling for a holiday; ride the bike instead of the car when going to a picnic; walk or take the public transportation when going to work, and so on. But if you can't live without a car, a good alternative would be to opt for green car instead of a conventional one.

Just because it's difficult to predict the future doesn't mean people won't try. The U.S. Energy Information Administration isn't looking that far ahead with its latest prediction but it sees "alternative vehicles" (which includes flex fuel, hybrids and diesel) making up 49 percent of new vehicle sales by 2035.
